Academician Ether Kemertelidze Honored on International Women’s Day and Her Upcoming 100th Anniversary
Academician Ether Kemertelidze, a distinguished scientist of the TSMU Iovel Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry, was officially congratulated on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8th).
Ether Kemertelidze is recognized as one of the founders of phytochemistry and pharmacochemistry in Georgia. She is the author of numerous significant scientific papers and research projects. Her scientific career has been primarily dedicated to the study of biologically active substances of plant origin. Under her leadership and based on her extensive research, several original medicinal products for various therapeutic purposes have been developed.
Throughout her career, Academician Kemertelidze has received numerous personal awards and both national and international recognition. She holds high prestige within the international scientific community; notably, she was invited by the Nobel Committee for Chemistry of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences to nominate candidates for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and was also nominated for the International Peace Prize.
To this day, Ether Kemertelidze remains active in her scientific pursuits, passing on her vast knowledge and experience to new generations of researchers.
The Minister of Healthcare, Mikheil Sarjveladze, along with TSMU Rector Irakli Natroshvili, Chancellor Alexander Buachidze, and representatives from TSMU and the Institute of Pharmacochemistry, congratulated the Academician on March 8th and her upcoming 100th birthday.
Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze highlighted the Academician’s decades of exceptional scientific work, which has profoundly influenced the development of pharmacochemistry in Georgia and advanced both the medical and scientific fields.
During the visit, the Minister of Healthcare also toured the TSMU Iovel Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry. The guests were briefed on the Institute’s current activities and ongoing scientific research projects.
